Àngela Zorro Medina

Professor Zorro Medina says, "Receiving the Connaught New Researcher Award is truly an honour, and I’m grateful for the support as I begin my academic career at the University of Toronto. The award will help me launch a multi-country study examining how criminal procedural reforms have shaped incarceration across Latin America. I’m excited to build collaborations and generate findings that can inform both scholarship and public policy across the region."

Zorro Medina is a sociolegal scholar who focuses on how the criminal justice system produces and reproduces racial and social inequality in Latin America and the United States. She joined the CrimSL faculty in August 2024.
