Mission
CrimSL is an interdisciplinary research and teaching centre that fosters critical engagement with some of the most pressing questions of our time: what is "crime"; who is classified as a "criminal"; what are the impacts of criminalization; how can we understand the nexus between law and society in a complex world in motion? Through multiple methodological and theoretical approaches, our research spans a range of local, national, and international domains, interrogating concepts of justice, criminality, law, and governance in the past, present and future. In dialogue with scholars, criminal justice practitioners, legal professionals, policymakers, justice-affected individuals, and the broader community, our faculty and students examine the dynamic relationship between people and the social institutions that structure our lives.
Vision
Mobilizing innovative, interdisciplinary scholarship and education to imagine and forge pathways to more just, safe, and equitable futures.
