Congratulations to CrimSL’s newest doctors, Dr. Jacqueline Briggs and Dr. Grace Tran!
On November 18, 2021, Dr. Briggs defended her thesis, “Networks of Colonial Governance: Department of Indian Affairs Legal Aid in Canada, 1870 to 1970.” Her supervisor was Professor Emerita Mariana Valverde.
On October 26, 2021, Dr. Tran defended her thesis, “Laws of Love: Negotiations of Intimacy and Legitimacy At and Beyond State Borders Through Vietnamese “Marriage Fraud” Arrangements.” Her supervisors were CrimSL Director Audrey Macklin and Professor Emerita Mariana Valverde.
They will confer their degrees on June 3rd at the University of Toronto convocation ceremonies.
