CrimSL celebrates Andrea Shier and William Watson

June 27, 2022 by Eunillyne Lazado

On Thursday, June 2, 2022, the CrimSL community gathered in person to celebrate achievements of the past year: new publications, research awards, theses defence and program completion, and more. Among these, we also spent the day celebrating exciting milestones: the retirements of CrimSL Librarian Andrea Shier and Professor William Watson.

Andrea Shier has been with the University of Toronto Libraries since September 1996. Since then, she has built the Criminology Library and assisted with Criminological Highlights. She has also extensively supported major public-facing works from the Centre’s faculty and students and made the library a place where people want to be.

Professor William Watson’s connections with the Centre began as a junior fellow in 1991. Since then, he has been a vital member of the CrimSL community. He has impacted thousands of students as a lecturer, coordinated CrimSL's undergraduate program, and pioneered experiential learning at the Centre.

We are grateful for their contributions to the Centre and the University of Toronto community. Join us in congratulating them on this exciting new chapter and wishing them well for the future.

Their last day on campus will be on Thursday, June 30.
