Congratulations to Kamari Clarke who has won a SSHRC Connections Grant for $24,566 for an upcoming critical international law summer workshop entitled, ”Rethinking Futures of Justice: Beyond the Limits of the Law." The workshop, co-hosted by the Transnational Justice Project, will explore the processes through which international criminal law is being taught, learned, structured and innovated, and seeks to build critical pedagogies that will grow and take root through its faculty and graduate student base. Held in Kigali, Rwanda and hosted with Rwandan partners, participants will explore transnational approaches to law and society, colonial inscriptions in shaping law and its relationship to contemporary controversies in international justice and will offer participants ways of theorizing the relationship between race/ethnicity/gender and inequality, violence, law, jurisprudence and discourse analysis.
In addition to the SSHRC Connections Grant, the summer institute/workshop is generously supported by contributions from the Centre for Diaspora and Transnational Studies, the Centre for Criminology and Sociolegal Studies and the Office of the Vice President International.
