Biography : 

Lauren is a PhD student in the Centre for Criminology & Sociolegal Studies with a collaborative specialization through the Women & Gender Studies Institute (WGSI). She also holds an MSc in International Social & Public Policy from the London School of Economics (LSE), a BA in Strategic Communication, and is an alumnus of the U.S. Fulbright program.

Lauren is originally from Atlanta, Georgia, but has called a number of cities around the world home. Prior to arriving at the University of Toronto, she worked for several years in policy and campaigning across a variety of issue areas, including healthcare equity, international aid, and political elections. In her most recent role, she was a campaign lead for Cancer Research UK, the world’s largest cancer charity. Consequently, she is incredibly interested in the intersection between research, policy, and community engagement.

As a PhD student, her research interests include trauma and victimization, addiction, punishment and gender, and qualitative methods.
