Congratulations to CrimSL Assistant Professor Ayobami Laniyonu on receiving the New Frontiers in Research Fund (NFRF) award with his co-investigator and colleague, Dr. Lisa Berglund of Dalhousie University.
With support from the NFRF, Professor Laniyonu and Dr. Berglund's research will explore social media vigilantism in Canada’s gentrifying neighbourhoods. Their research will analyze residents’ social media engagement and how it affects perceptions of crime, safety, law enforcement and behaviour. Read the full research summary here.
Launched in 2018, the NFRF seeks to fund interdisciplinary, high-risk/high-reward, transformative research led by Canadian researchers. In addition to inspiring innovative research, the NFRF also aims to showcase Canada’s competitiveness and expertise in the global, knowledge-based economy.
