Dr. Daniel Konikoff to join University of Alberta faculty

April 18, 2024 by Patricia Doherty

Congratulations and best wishes to Dr. Daniel Konikoff, who will join the University of Alberta's Department of Sociology as an Assistant Professor on July 1, 2024!

Daniel completed his PhD under the supervision of Professor Beatrice Jauregui, and defended his doctoral thesis, "Automating the Thin Blue Line: Controversy, Knowledge, and the Governance of Police Technology in Canada," on April 3, 2024.

He will officially be conferred the degree at a University of Toronto convocation ceremony on June 5, 2024, and says, "I'll be there!"

"As much as I look forward to starting my next chapter out west, I’ll always miss Toronto, U of T, and CrimSL. I’ve spent a total of 11 (!!!) years at the Centre as part of my academic journey—during that egregiously long time, I couldn’t be more grateful for all of the friends and colleagues who have made this place home. Come visit me in Edmonton!"

The CrimSL community is proud of Daniel's achievements and we wish him continued success in the future!
