Getting Smart about Smart Cities

Smart Cities: Digital Dreams, Corporate Designs, Professor Mariana Valverde's recent book co-edited with Alexandra Flynn (University of British Columbia) was featured in a Centre for Ethics event on Friday, January 29th. Valverde and Flynn will join commentators Beth Coleman (Institute of Communication, Culture, Information and Technology & Faculty of Information, University of Toronto); Renee Sieber (Geography, McGill University); David Murakami Wood (Sociology, Queen’s University) and moderator Jamie Duncan (Centre for Criminology & Sociolegal Studies, University of Toronto) in an interactive online forum on the book.

Ahead of the event, Professor Valverde spoke to the Faculty of Arts & Science's Chris Sasaki about "navigating the promising and perilous landscape of 'smart cities.'”
