CrimSL PhD student Alex Luscombe, and Alexander McClelland, post-doctoral fellow at the University of Ottawa have launched the “Policing the Pandemic Mapping Project”
“To track and visualize the massive and extraordinary expansions of police power in response to the COVID-19 Pandemic and the unequal patterns of enforcement this is likely to produce. The project aims to bring to light COVID-19 related patterns of police intervention to help understand who is being targeted, what justifications are being used by police, and how marginalized people are being impacted.”
This ongoing project includes an interactive map, a searchable database, a white paper published April 8th, and enforcement reports (April 4-13, 2020, April 14, 2020 - May 1, 2020).
